Hello Volumizers,

SGI is excited to announce the release of OpenGL Volumizer 2.7, which
includes support for the Windows operating system!

OpenGL Volumizer is the industry's first commercially available, high-level
volume rendering application programming interface (API) for the energy,
manufacturing, medical, and sciences markets.

OpenGL Volumizer is a revolutionary graphics API designed for interactive,
high quality, scalable visualization of large volumetric data sets. OpenGL
Volumizer provides a high-level interface to OpenGL hardware to allow
application writers and researchers to visualize multiple gigabytes of
volumetric data. The API uses OpenGL for volume rendering and hence allows
standard graphics applications to treat volumetric and surface data in a
similar fashion.

The major new features for OpenGL Volumizer 2.7 include support for
Microsoft Windows based systems, high quality rendering algorithms, render
action enhancements, and additional sample code. OpenGL Volumizer 2.7 also
still supports IRIX, the SGI Visualization Developer System for Linux
(64-bit Linux), and 32-bit Linux systems. We have updated the OpenGL
Volumizer web site to reflect this new release. Take a look:

http://www.sgi.com/software/volumizer/
<http://www.sgi.com/software/volumizer/>

As with IRIX, the SGI Visualization Developer System for Linux (64-bit
Linux), and 32-bit Linux support, the US List Price for the Windows run-time
license is $750, with discounts available for volume purchases (5, 10, and
50 licenses). There is also a 28 day evaluation license available for
download on the SupportFolio web site.

For developers, we also still have an OEM licensing option available. For
further detail on this, please contact me directly.

Download information can be found at:

http://www.sgi.com/software/volumizer/downloads.html
<http://www.sgi.com/software/volumizer/downloads.html>

For a complete list of the new features supported within OpenGL Volumizer
2.7 please see the release notes:

http://www.sgi.com/software/volumizer/relnotes_2.7.pdf
<http://www.sgi.com/software/volumizer/relnotes_2.7.pdf>

Please feel free to contact me should you require additional information.

Thank you,

Thomas Tannert

Hi Michael,

Thanks for bringing this up. With the 2.7 release, the product supports RHEL
WS 3.0.

You can download the latest software and get more information on the product
web site - www.sgi.com/software/volumizer.

Cheers,
Praveen

=====================================================================

Performers, Volumizers, Optimizers, and all SIGGRAPH attendees,

Please join us for the OpenGL Performer "Friends of Performer"
Birds-of-a-Feather meeting next Tuesday in Los Angeles, CA at
SIGGRAPH 2004. We'll be discussing the latest news about OpenGL
Performer, showing demos of our upcoming release, sneak previewing
our future Linux visualization technology, and have some wonderful
guest speakers who will be sharing their experiences with you all.

You won't want to miss this. I'm very pleased to announce our
featured guest speaker:

Frank Hartman
Senior Software Engineer and Rover Driver
Mars Exploration Rover Project
Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Frank will give a presentation describing the Rover Sequencing
and Visualization Program (RSVP) and how it is being used to
drive the Spirit and Opportunity rovers on the surface of Mars.
The visualization component of RSVP is based on OpenGL Performer
for realtime rendering and provides multiple rendered views into
a database of martian terrain models fused with rover CAD data and
downlinked telemetry and imagery. Screenshots and animations from
RSVP being used for MER rover surface ops will be presented.

Meeting Agenda:
    6:00pm  Socializing
    6:15pm  Welcome
            Performer Update
            SGI Visual Systems News & Update

Is anyone having trouble downloading the evaluation copy of Volumizer for
Windows? I have a supportfolio account and am able to download the
evaluation license, but when I go through the Volumizer download site, the
SurfZone password dialog box will not accept my password even if I am
already logged into Supportfolio.

Thanks,
Mark
